You tell me whats wrong?

College described as “the best years of your life”. Years full of hard work, late nights, studying, new friends, and whole new experiences. A place where you get a clean slate, no one knows you and get to be person you want.  A place I have to put off for 2 years while I fulfill my GE requirements at a community college. Don’t get me wrong, a community college is also great but it will never live up to a 4 year university. I was willing to put behind my fears of leaving my mother alone and growing up. Many people who knew me well these knew these two tasks were huge for me. By the middle of Senior year I had applied to 16 schools varying from CSU, UC’S and privates. I got denied from 2 and accepted into the rest. I was one of the top graduating students whom was involved in Student Council and other activities. From the 14 schools I narrowed down my options to University of California Santa Cruz and San Francisco State University, two very different options. Ultimately I chose University of California Santa Cruz was the place I would call home for the next fours. I accepted their admission and signed up for orientation. Orientation was everything I imagined and more. This happy period would soon end when I would receive from an email from them ( UCSC Admissions). It was a short email that explained my admission at UCSC was canceled for failure to send my test scores. My first reaction was indifferent since I knew for a fact I had sent my test scores 2 times before the due date! A few months of fighting began, I worked with my college advisor to write letters of appeal, emails and make phone calls. All of which didnt work. Admissions kept telling me “NO” and to look into other options because I would not be attending UCSC in the fall of 2011. The reason why my admission was canceled was because UCSC could not match up my name with the scores. My full name has 3 names due to my parents being seperated at birth. My name with the test agency only had 2. For the simple reason of not being able to match up these two names I had my admission canceled. It was not even my fault of being irresponsible but of  UCSC admissions of putting the full effort to look for test scores if they really wanted me there. Should I mention I’m also a Latina.

E for Eclipse & Epic Movie

I was one of the lucky to attend a special The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie screening Monday night. Arriving a few hours early, I waited in line to receive a number and stamp. After waiting in line anxiously for hours in the scorching heat, the man in the blue shirt announced it was time. One by one we were let in but w/o any camera, video device. Once we were in the theatre, we only had to wait a few more minutes. Then suddenly the movie started, the newborn vampire running for his life. After the two hours of Eclipse, I realized this movie is the best of The Twilight Series. The movie hit the most important parts to the book especially the TENT SCENE. All the characters stayed the same people except Victoria. But it’s okay, movie was just as good. Also I believe Jasper (hot accent*) and Jacob stole the show for this one. For those who will be watching it at midnight, it’s definitely worth the wait and money. Being a extreme Twilight fan, Eclipse was awesome and I will be re-watching again as many times as i could. But to warn you, Bella did wear a wig and running scenes not the best visual effects. Anyways thats no biggie,WATCH IT to see who Bella will choose.

Behind Wavin’ Flag

Coca-Cola chose Wavin’ Flag by Knaan to represent their FIFA World Cup program. Though it is not the exact version, it still has elements of the original song. His lyrics explain of the atrocities his family experienced and people in Africa still are. Born in Keinan Abdi Warsame in 1978 a time of war, his mother had to choose who would go to America, Knaan was chosen. Since then he grew as a musician/rapper being more Canadian based, as for a while ago here in America his popularity has grown. Now being the song representing the World Cup 2010, his popularity is yet to become bigger. Check out his music!

World Cup has Begun

Alarms were set at 5 am today because the World Cup was kicking of their first game. Though the whole ceremony and inauguration started at 5 the real battle began at 7 am. Our school was full of students, some students of which arrive late but today was different. Looking over to all my surrounding I only saw Mexico shirts waiting for kickoff. Then the referee blew the whistle to indicate the game has begun. Starting off with a good first half South Africa and Mexico were 1-1 until South Africa scored their first goal. All I could hear in the background was nothing. We were all silent wondering whether the score would stay as is, South Africa taking the first win. This all changed during the last 10 minutes of the game, when Rafa Marquez scored, everyone yelled and jumped together for all the problems these students had were all forgotten coming together as one.

SOUTH AFRICA WORLD CUP 2010

For true soccer fans, Friday is a day anxiously awaited. Mexico will be opening for the World Cup, a game everyone cannot stop talking about. Mexico has surpassed many struggles, for they proved themselves winning the Gold Cup against United States last year. Though this Friday Mexico will confront South Africa at 7 am. My mom already plans to take the day off, and my cousins plan to take a little T.V to their work to enjoy 3 weeks of games. As for myself I have to go to school and hope for the best. Maybe we can convince teachers to let us stream it live on a projector.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Who will win Bellas love?

We waited 8 months for Eclipse, third movie based on Stephanie Meyers acclaimed series. For those who have not read Stephanie Meyers Twilight Series, Edward is a hot vampire who found interest in Forks new girl Bella a human. They soon become a couple no one approves of including an old friend named Jacob who has secrets himself.

Last movie New Moon left us with our jaws open as Edward proposed to Bella. But Eclipse is sure to be action packed with intimate moments with Edward and Jacob, Bella has to decide what she really wants. Though as time goes by it gets mores difficult for Bella because Jacob becomes hotter and Edwards hair becomes messier. Victoria  adds to their problems because she creates a pack of newborn vampires to seek revenge on Edwards little sheep, Bella. What will happen next? Well we will have to wait until….
